Congresswoman Torres Leads Resolution Celebrating Warehouse Worker Recognition Week

Ontario, CA - Today, Congresswoman Norma Torres (CA-35) introduced a resolution designating August 17-21, 2026, as Warehouse Worker Recognition Week, honoring the workers in the logistics industry whose labor keeps goods moving, businesses operating, and communities supplied across the country.

The Inland Empire is one of the nation's most important logistics hubs, with goods arriving through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach moving through warehouses and distribution centers across San Bernardino and Riverside counties before reaching communities nationwide. Over 120,000 Inland Empire workers depend on warehouse and logistics jobs, making these workers and their families an essential part of both the regional and national economy.

"Every day, warehouse workers across the Inland Empire show up and do the hard work that keeps our economy moving," said Congresswoman Torres. "They unload, sort, package, and move the goods that families and businesses across America depend on, often while working long hours in physically demanding conditions. Warehouse Worker Recognition Week is about making sure their contributions are seen, valued, and respected."

Torres has continued to push for stronger protections for warehouse workers, particularly as extreme heat creates dangerous working conditions throughout the Inland Empire. Earlier this summer, Torres called on federal and state labor officials to strengthen enforcement of workplace heat protections, conduct inspections of warehouses in the Inland Empire, and move forward with stronger federal safeguards for workers exposed to excessive heat on the job.

"Our gratitude to warehouse workers has to extend beyond one week of recognition," continued Torres. "As temperatures continue to climb in the Inland Empire, no worker should have to risk their health or their life just to earn a paycheck. I will continue fighting for safe workplaces, fair treatment, and an economy that recognizes the people whose labor makes our supply chains possible."

Congresswoman Torres represents California's 35th Congressional District in the heart of the Inland Empire, one of the largest logistics and goods movement regions in the United States.
