Bear Run and Camp Francis Johnson local road resurfacing (Lakeside)- Crews expect to begin a resurfacing project on several local roads in the Bear Run and Camp Francis Johnson neighborhoods in late July to early August. Drivers should anticipate daytime single-lane closures with flaggers once work begins. Work is expected to take 3-4 weeks to complete.
Fox Meadow neighborhood roads resurfacing project (Middleburg)- Crews anticipate beginning a neighborhood road resurfacing project in the Fox Meadow area in August, following the completion of the Bear Run area streets. Drivers should anticipate intermittent, single-lane closures and traffic shifts once work begins. Roads to be resurfaced include: Saddle Horn Trail, Calvary Court, Bitter Sweet Court, Cap Lock Court, Coachmans Place, Coachman roundabout, Equestrian Court, Long Meadow Trail, Mail Coach Court, Musket Ridge Road, Old Wagon Court, Old Wagon cul-de-sac, Saddle cul-de-sac, Silver Spur Court, Silver Spur cul-de-sac, Striker Place, and Whip Stick Trail. The project is expected to take up to 30 days to complete, weather permitting.
New County Projects
Old Jennings Road lane closure (Middleburg)- Crews will be closing the westbound right lane at the 3210 block of Old Jennings Road on Tuesday, July 28, from 8:30 am to 4 pm for concrete work at the new Fire Station 1.
Ongoing County Projects
County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Peters Creek Bridge to US 17, Bonded Transportation Program project #2 (Lake Asbury)- Widen the roadway to four lanes with a median, turn lanes, bike lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks from CR 315B to US 17 and from CR 315 to south of Peters Creek Bridge. Drivers should expect single-lane closures, delays, and occasional weekend work through spring 2027. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents.
County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Sandridge Road to Peters Creek Bridge, Bonded Transportation Program project 3B (Lake Asbury)- Widening and realigning the east end of Sandridge Road (CR 739B) where it connects to County Road 209B, along with operational improvements at the County Road 209 and County Road 209B intersection to improve traffic flow and safety. Motorists should expect a 25 mph low-speed zone and day and nighttime single-lane closures in the work area. The project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2026.
County Road 218, Bonded Transportation Program project #1 (Middleburg) - Widen and reconstruct a 2.7-mile roadway from Masters Road to Pine Tree Lane into four lanes with a median, turn lanes, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and bike lanes, and resurface the road from Cosmos Avenue to Pine Tree Lane. Drivers should expect lane closures, traffic shifts, and a 25 mph speed limit throughout the work zone. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents. Project completion is expected in summer 2026.
County Road 220 widening and reconstruction Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects (Middleburg/Lakeside) - Phase 1 work began in December 2024 and includes intersection improvements at Rideout Ferry Road. Phase 2 work began on January 20, 2025, and includes the construction of a new four-lane bridge over Little Black Creek. Both phases are expected to be completed in late 2026, with detours in place throughout the project. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents.
County Road 220 drainage repairs (Lakeside/Middleburg)- On June 29, crews began a drainage improvement project on County Road 220 between Knight Boxx Road and Legacy Farm Road. Motorists should expect a temporary traffic shift and barrier wall installation in the work zone. Construction is expected to take up to 60 days to complete. Please use caution when traveling through the area and allow extra travel time if needed.
County Road 315/ Cathedral Oak Parkway utility work (Green Cove Springs)- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures on County Road 315 north to Cathedral Oak Parkway Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for gas main installation work. We will update this notice when the work is complete.
Lakeview Street and Hilltop Street dirt road paving project (Keystone Heights) - Crews began paving Lakeview Street, Hilltop Street, and a portion of Southwest Pecan Street on June 1. The work includes base preparation, asphalt paving, driveway tie-ins, drainage improvements, signage, and pavement markings. Motorists should expect daytime single-lane closures during the work.
Radar Road new construction (Fleming Island) - Crews began construction on the new two-lane road connecting Radar Road to Town Center Boulevard at the existing roundabout on April 6. Drivers should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures and flaggers directing traffic for up to 390 days. Once completed, the project will provide a full connection from U.S. 17 to Town Center Boulevard and include bike lanes, curbs, gutters, and drainage improvements. A crosswalk is in place from the Fleming Island Library parking lot to the park entrance for pedestrians. Work began on Town Center Blvd. at the traffic circle the week of July 20; please use caution as crews perform road construction in this area.

FDOT Update: Northbound double-lane and ramp closures for Buckman Bridge work July 24-27: FDOT Update: Continuous northbound double-lane closures on the Buckman Bridge are scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, July 24, through 4 a.m. Monday, July 27, weather permitting, as part of the ongoing finger joint replacement project. The two outside lanes of I-295 North over the bridge will be closed. The San Jose Boulevard (SR 13) ramp to I-295 North will also be closed, with a detour via Old St. Augustine Road. Drivers should plan for delays, allow extra travel time, or use alternate routes. The $5.4 million project also includes structural steel repairs and protective coatings on the bridge and is expected to be completed in fall 2026.
Blanding Boulevard (State Road 21) at Arora Boulevard (Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace) -Nighttime lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for road work.
Blanding Boulevard (State Road 21) at Edson Drive (Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace)- Nighttime lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for road work.
Blanding Boulevard (State Road 21) at Parkwood Drive (Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace)- Nighttime lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for road work.
State Road 16 at Shands Bridge (Green Cove Springs)- Nighttime eastbound lane closures Wednesday and Thursday from midnight to 5 a.m. for bridge work.
State Road 21 at Black Creek -Bridge #710083 (Middleburg)- Daytime lane closures Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
U.S. 17 (State Road 15/Park Avenue) from Doctors Inlet to Wells Road resurfacing project (Orange Park) - Construction begins the week of May 25 on a $5.3 million resurfacing project along US 17 (Park Avenue) from Doctors Inlet to Wells Road in Orange Park. Work includes resurfacing, sidewalk and bridge improvements, traffic signals, guardrails, and signage upgrades. Overnight lane closures are expected during construction. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2027, weather permitting.
U.S. 17 (S.R. 15) from Oak Street to Black Creek roadway improvements (Green Cove Springs) - This $12.2 million project, part of Green Cove Springs' Downtown Improvement Plan, will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on U.S. 17 and CR 209. Key upgrades include new traffic signals, extended turn lanes, directional medians, and improved lighting. Work will be coordinated with Clay County's CR 209 widening project, with completion expected by late 2026.
U.S. 301 at County Road 218 (Clay Hill)- Daytime southbound lane closures Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. for road work.
