WASHINGTON - Today, the House Steering Committee selected Congressman Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) to serve on the powerful House Committee on Appropriations.
"It is an honor to join the House Committee on Appropriations. The committee has a long-standing history of careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars and rigorous oversight of federal spending," said Rep. Shreve. "As the first Indiana Republican to serve on this committee in thirty years, I'm ready to go to work for Hoosiers. I'm grateful for Chairman Cole's trust and leadership."
"I am very pleased to welcome Congressman Jefferson Shreve to our esteemed roster of members," said Chairman Cole. "His appointment comes at a pivotal moment as we prepare to begin our FY27 markup season. I am confident he will bring strong conservative leadership to our work - reinforcing fiscal discipline, rigorous oversight, and the America First priorities our bills are built on. As one of the most fundamental constitutional duties of Congress, the power of the purse demands careful stewardship and deliberate action. Rep. Shreve brings that commitment, along with valuable expertise in business, economic growth, and agriculture. Together, I know we will continue advancing legislation that reflects the priorities of our constituents, strengthens our nation, and ensures government is accountable to the American people. Indiana's Sixth Congressional District and the nation will be well served by his voice on the House Appropriations Committee."
The Appropriations Committee has broad jurisdiction and constitutional authority over the nation's financial resources. Congressman Shreve will serve on three Appropriations subcommittees: the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee; the Homeland Security Subcommittee; and the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee.
Prior to his selection to the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Shreve served on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
