Netflix has released the official trailer for Dibu Martínez: The Kid Who Stops Time , a film that delves into the personal story of Emiliano Martínez from his days as a dreamer in Mar del Plata to becoming the 'Dibu' we all know today, one of the greatest heroes in Argentine and world soccer. The film, which promises to move the whole family, will be available on the service on May 28 .
The production uses a narrative that combines animated sequences based on illustrations by Liniers, personal archival footage, and interviews with the goalkeeper's inner circle, including his childhood friends, family members, and key figures in his story, such as Lionel Messi, Lionel Scaloni, and Miguel Ángel "Pepé" Santoro. This combination of formats allows the documentary to trace Martínez's journey and the challenges he faced before achieving professional success.
Filmed in Argentina and England in 2025, the film is a PEGSA production led by Agustín Pichot, based on a short story by Hernán Casciari and directed by Gustavo Cova. The story follows a boy who discovers he has the power to stop time and argues with a ball-voiced by Agustín Aristarán-that reminds him of all the challenges ahead. An emotional and original tale of how his inner strength led him to achieve glory, becoming an inspiration for new generations.
