Work along the State Route (SR) 316 corridor on Bundle 1 - including SR 316 at Bethlehem Road and Barber Creek Road - continues to move forward in several areas of the project. At both the Bethlehem Road and Barber Creek Road bridges, final surface work, including grinding and grooving, has been completed to improve ride quality and safety. At the Bethlehem Road bridge, crews are continuing work on final bridge elements as the structure moves closer to completion.

Grading activities remain underway throughout the corridor. Crews are continuing to shape the roadway along Craft Frontage Road, 8th Street, the north side of Bethlehem Road, and within the interchange areas. These efforts help prepare the roadway and surrounding areas for upcoming construction.

Base construction, the foundational layer beneath future pavement, is also progressing in several locations, including along Craft Frontage Road, 8th Street, and the south side of Barber Creek Road. These areas are being prepared for future paving operations as work continues.

Paving activities have begun in select locations, including the Ventura Street cul-de-sac, marking another step forward in completing local roadway improvements.

Utility work remains active along the corridor. Crews recently completed waterline work near Barber Creek Road and have begun additional waterline installation along the north side of Bethlehem Road.

Erosion control and maintenance activities continue throughout the corridor. Crews are maintaining silt fencing, construction exits, orange barrier fencing, and temporary mulch to protect nearby waterways and keep work areas orderly and safe. Traffic control measures remain in place to guide drivers safely through active work zones.

Grading will continue along SR 316 and in surrounding areas near Bethlehem Road and Barber Creek Road, as crews prepare the roadway and interchange ramps for upcoming paving. Base work will also remain active in several locations to support continued progress toward future pavement operations. Curb and gutter installation is expected to begin soon along Barber Creek Road.

Crews will continue advancing final bridge work activities, including constructing bridge barrier fencing, sidewalks, and a raised median, and coordinating work in the surrounding roadway areas as construction progresses toward completion.

Utility work will remain active along the corridor, with continued waterline installation along Bethlehem Road and additional adjustments to existing infrastructure to support ongoing construction.

Summer Travel Kickoff: Work Zone Safety on SR 316

As Memorial Day approaches and summer travel begins, drivers may notice heavier traffic along SR 316, along with ongoing construction activity throughout the corridor. With more vehicles on the road and active work zones in place, staying alert, slowing down, and driving cautiously are essential to keeping everyone safe.

Summer Travel Tips for SR 316:

• Plan Ahead for Travel Times: Holiday and weekend traffic can lead to slower travel through active work zones. Allow extra time for your trip and be prepared for brief delays.

• Stay Alert in Work Zones: Increased traffic and ongoing construction mean drivers should watch closely for signage, lane shifts, and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

• Maintain Safe Following Distance: Heavier traffic and changing conditions make it important to leave extra space between vehicles to allow for sudden stops.

• Slow Down and Stay Focused: Reduced speeds and attentive driving help protect both fellow drivers and construction crews working along the corridor.
