On June 10, the Permanent Mission of China to Vienna and the United Nations Office at Vienna jointly hosted the events for 2026 International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations at the Vienna International Centre. More than 300 guests attended the event, including heads of international organizations in Vienna, permanent representatives of various countries, and representatives from different sectors.
A video message delivered by H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, was played at the event and received a warm response from participants.
In his remarks, Ambassador Li Song emphasized that the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), proposed by President Xi Jinping, has been translated from a grand vision into vibrant practices over the past three years, and injects strong new momentum into building a community with a shared future for humanity and the response to global challenges. Ambassador Li stressed that China stands ready to work with all parties to promote dialogue and exchanges among civilizations, enhance solidarity through communication, build consensus through mutual understanding, and jointly cultivate a flourishing garden of world civilizations characterized by harmony and coexistence.
The event also featured a series of cultural activities, including the Chinese Painting Exhibition of National Flowers entitled "Blossoms of Civilizations - Fragrance Shared Across the World". Guests immersed themselves in the exhibition and other cultural programs, and spoke highly of the global significance of the Global Civilization Initiative. Participants commended China's leading role in promoting dialogue among civilizations.
