HEYBURN - Starting Thursday the Idaho Transportation Department will detour eastbound drivers on Interstate 84 to Exit 216 to access Heyburn while crews close the Exit 211 off-ramp for concrete paving, fixing a storm drain system, laying curb and gutter and other construction.
The detour will be in place through Tuesday. Eastbound traffic on I-84 will also be reduced to one lane and slowed to 35 mph Thursday night starting at 6 p.m. through Friday at 7 a.m.
Signage is in place to guide motorists through the project area. Drivers are urged to watch for work crews and use caution when traveling through work zones.
Construction has been underway since 2024 to update the Heyburn and Burley Interchanges to meet growing traffic demands and is anticipated to be completed in 2026.
The project is funded as part of Gov. Little's Leading Idaho transportation funding initiative. The Leading Idaho initiative allows ITD to take a deliberate approach to advance large projects that will enhance safety, improve mobility, further strengthen Idaho's economy, and positively impact the Magic Valley and communities across the state for years to come.
