SAVE THE DATE – Fifty-Fifth Annual Meeting Ophthalmology Alumni/Residents’ Day and Thirty-Sixth Annual Kambara Distinguished Visiting Professorship

When: Friday, June 12, 2026 8:00am to 3:00pm CDT

Where: 930 Madison Ave., Freeman Auditorium

What: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology will host their annual Kambara DVP Lecture and Residents' Day. Thomas Oetting, MD a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa will be this year's distinguished visiting professor. Dr. Oettings' presentation is entitled Cool Cases. This event provides an opportunity to highlight resident scholarship and foster academic collaboration across training levels. The program will feature presentations of current research by PGY-3 residents, reviews of select case reports presented by PGY-2 residents, and a featured lecture from our invited speaker/DVP. Attendees will also hear from former residents, who will share updates on their careers and present research they are currently conducting. This event is designed to promote learning, mentorship, and engagement with ongoing clinical and academic work within our training community.
