Cassandra Williams Receives Stacey Fowler Leadership & Heart Award

ST. LOUIS, MO - The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is proud to announce that Deputy Director Cassandra Williams has been selected as a recipient of the inaugural Stacey Fowler Leadership & Heart Award, presented by Midwest Urban Strategies (MUS) during its 2026 Summer Convening.

The award honors the legacy of Stacey Fowler, a respected workforce development leader and founding Midwest Urban Strategies board member whose career was defined by compassion, courage, and commitment to people. Established this year, the Stacey Fowler Leadership & Heart Award recognizes workforce professionals who lead with both vision and humanity, creating meaningful and lasting change in the communities they serve.

Williams was selected for her more than 25 years of service in workforce development, training, and compliance management, as well as her steadfast commitment to supporting individuals facing barriers to employment. Throughout her career, she has combined strategic leadership with a deeply personal approach to service, ensuring that customers are not only assisted but genuinely empowered to achieve their goals.

"Cassandra exemplifies the qualities this award was created to celebrate," said Connie L. Johnson, Executive Director of SLATE. "Her leadership is rooted in service, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every individual. Williams was honored during the Workforce Heroes recognition ceremony on June 2, 2026.

Stacey's commitment to serving the marginalized individuals with intentionality and self-sacrifice is more than commendable," said Williams. "Equally inspiring is her investment in mentoring those who work alongside her and ensuring that her legacy of service continues through the lives and work of those she influenced."
