It's been a whirlwind week-and-half at UCLA, with move-in and Volunteer Day bookending a series of more than 120 True Bruin Welcome events, open houses and community-building activities. Below, we highlight in photos of few of the week's festivities.
Moving in
Four-thousand moving carts. Nearly 800 volunteers. Approximately 4,000 students arriving each day. From Sept. 17 to 20, UCLA's annual move-in saw more than 15,000 new and continuing Bruins - assisted by family, friends and campus volunteers - hauling stuffed suitcases and duffel bags and pushing their belongings in ubiquitous yellow and blue carts to their residence halls on the Hill. New Student Welcome and block party
True Bruin Welcome kicked Sept. 21 off with the New Student Welcome event in Pauley Pavilion with Chancellor Julio Frenk and other campus leaders on Sunday, Sept. 21. That evening, Westwood Village was the site of a huge block partywith DJs, food vendors, Ferris wheel and plenty of smiles. Read more.

Enormous Activities Fair
At the Enormous Activities Fair on Sept. 22,students dove into their passions and connected with fellow Bruins by exploring more than 500 clubs and student organizations on campus.

Volunteer Day
From preparing meals at food banks to cleaning up riverbanks, 1,300 UCLA volunteers fanned out across Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 27, for rolling up their sleeves to make a difference. An annual rite of passage, Volunteer Day invites new and returning Bruins, along with faculty, staff and alumni, to forge connections with local partners and L.A.'s diverse communities while tackling real-world projects in their own backyard.
