On 21 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Khalil Yaqoob AlKhayat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Thailand, on a courtesy call upon his assumption of duties.
Both sides noted with satisfaction the close and strong ties between Thailand and Bahrain, which are on track to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Thailand's readiness to host the 4th High Joint Commission (HJC) Meeting on bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Bahrain, as well as to organize activities to commemorate the special occasion.
Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful resolution through diplomatic efforts. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed Thailand's solidarity with Bahrain and underscored the importance of a rules-based international order.
