Lindenwood University's Math Success Center has been awarded Level One certification by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) through its International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC).

The Math Success Center, a free tutoring service, supports students in mathematics, physics, and computer science. Assistance is offered daily, and students are encouraged to walk as needed.

The certification recognizes the Center's program for meeting CRLA's national standards. These standards cover tutor selection, training, direct service, and evaluation. Programs that earn the certification complete a peer review process. This process assesses their alignment with best practices in academic support.

Since 1989, ITTPC has certified tutorial programs in 12 countries. The program benefits educators by providing continued training, enabling them to document their growth over time. The CRLA cites research showing that students who work with trained tutors perform better academically than those who attend tutoring with untrained tutors.

The Level One certification reflects the University's support for educators and students. Evaluators were impressed by the in-person support offered to tutors at Lindenwood. They also approved of the University's self-evaluation process. This process allowed tutors to reflect on their work and experience.

This certification strengthens Lindenwood's commitment to putting students first. By supporting tutors, the Math Success Center provides high-quality education. It meets each student's individual needs. The Center also offers real experience for student tutors. Tutors develop instructional and professional skills before graduating.

The Math Success Center is located in LARC 121 and is open Monday-Friday. Support for all standard math and statistics classes is available during operating hours. Students are encouraged to check the tutor schedule for support with specialty subjects.
