Grassley Completes 45th Annual 99 County Meetings

KOSSUTH COUNTY, IOWA - U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) yesterday concluded his 45th annual 99 county meetings across Iowa with a tour of Country Maid in West Bend, followed by a question-and-answer session with employees. Earlier in the day, Grassley held meetings in Akron, Sheldon and Rock Rapids. Grassley takes questions on any subject, and Iowans set the agenda.

"Representative government is a two-way street. I'm one half of the process, and the people of Iowa are the other. My 99 county meetings allow me to meet with a large cross-section of Iowans from different walks of life, including students, manufacturers, health care providers and more. These meetings guide my policy priorities in Washington, and I appreciate the chance to meet with my constituents face-to-face and hear their concerns. Since I'm not able to meet with over three million Iowans individually, I always encourage people to share their views by writing a letter, sending an email, or calling or stopping by one of my offices," Grassley said.

"My leadership to strengthen rural health care, bring transparency to fertilizer pricing and reduce prescription drug costs all stem from my meetings with Iowans," Grassley continued. "I look forward to hearing from more Iowans at future question-and-answer sessions as I continue serving our state in the U.S. Senate."

Iowans who attended this year's meetings raised concerns on a variety of issues including pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), the Farm Bill, health care, the 2025 tax law, trade, biofuels, energy, immigration and more. They often shared their support for more transparency and bipartisanship in Washington.

Background:

Grassley has been holding his annual county meetings since his election to the U.S. Senate. For the past 45 years, he has held at least one question-and-answer session in each of Iowa's 99 counties every year. He makes himself available for questions from local media for 15 minutes after each meeting.

Grassley's 99 county meetings consist of public town halls, meetings with small businesses, factory workers, farmers, schools, health care professionals, community leaders, students and more. Through this process, he hears from a wide range of Iowans, including those who are unable to take time off from work to attend town meetings. Grassley's tireless efforts to meet Iowans where they work, study and live continues to set the standard for representative government.
