First Public Hearing Held on June 2 for Charter City Initiative

On Tuesday evening, the Fremont City Council held its first public hearing to consider becoming a Charter city, which, if approved, would appear on the November 3, 2026, election ballot for Fremont voters' consideration.

During the meeting, the City Council reviewed and discussed the Charter Advisory Committee's (CAC) recommendations and provided additional input for inclusion in the draft Charter. The revised draft will be available in advance of the second public hearing, scheduled for July 7, 2026.

Community members are encouraged to review the Charter City meeting videos and presentations online and attend the upcoming City Council meetings to learn more about the proposed changes and participate in the discussion.

Public Hearing #2 - July 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Final Meeting - July 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., Special City Council meeting tentatively scheduled for consideration of ballot placement.
