ESU College of Education Places Over 200 Students in Classrooms for Hands-on Training

Over 200 future educators from East Stroudsburg University's College of Education gained hands-on experience through field experience and student teaching during the Spring 2026 academic semester.

As the only educator preparation program in Northeastern PA recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), ESU's College of Education programs have achieved the "gold standard" nationally. With a broad School-University Partnership program, students gain over 1,000 hours of field experience during their preparation, many of which happen before they begin to student teach in their final semester.

Brooke Langan, Ed.D., dean of the College of Education says this level of field experience helps future educators to strengthen their ability to make deliberate decisions that benefit the learning of all students. "Many hiring principals say that ESU graduates come in like a first-year teacher. They have confidence in the classroom thanks to their extensive hours of field experience."

Through partnerships with regional school districts, and the national school-university model, ESU's College of Education continues to make strides in addressing the teacher shortage in the commonwealth while ensuring future educators are prepared to facilitate their own classrooms and make a positive impact on the profession.
