Idaho Power Volunteers Enjoy ‘Power of Community Day’

On Thursday, Oct. 2, Idaho Power held the fall edition of its biannual Power of Community Day event. More than 150 employees, retirees, and family members volunteered at 12 locations from Caldwell to Pocatello, helping nonprofit groups and community organizations serve local communities.

This event is a favorite tradition for Idaho Power employees, who enjoy the opportunity to give back to the places where they live and work. For the fall event, teams of teal-clad volunteers:

  • Cleared loose rock and encroaching trees from the Red Hill Trail in Pocatello
  • Cleaned statues and weeded the grounds at the Hagerman Sheep Monument (pictured below)
  • Helped winterize the Idaho Veterans Garden in Caldwell
  • Sorted goods at the Boise Rescue Mission
  • Picked up trash along the company's Adopt-a-Highway stretch at Harrison Hollow Park in Boise
  • Packed 6,000 pounds of beef at the Idaho Foodbank in Meridian
  • Painted bowls for the Empty Bowls fundraiser at Ceramica in Boise
  • Performed landscaping and cleanup work at the MK Nature Center in Boise
  • Boxed meals and supplies at the Salvation Army in Boise
  • Helped with gardening and landscaping work at Global Gardens in Boise
  • Beautified the grounds at Family Advocates in Boise
  • Helped clean up the Ridge to Rivers Trail in the Boise Foothills
