Homicide Unit detectives are seeking a 39-year-old man for questioning as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this morning's domestic-related fatal shooting of a 41-year-old man inside a home in the 3700 block of Hydes Ferry Road.
The resident, who identified herself as the 39-year-old's girlfriend, said that he was visiting when her former boyfriend showed up and started knocking on the front door and bedroom window for a prolonged period. The woman said she went to the front door and started to go outside when the former boyfriend pushed by her and forced his way into the home. She said the former boyfriend headed toward the 39-year-old, at which point she heard gunshots. She said the 39-year-old then left. The former boyfriend was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
A chaplain is working to locate and notify the deceased's next of kin.
