UC great Coby Bryant leads Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl

SEATTLE - Former Cincinnati football team captain and 2021 Jim Thorpe Award winner Coby Bryant helped lead the Seattle Seahawks to Super Bowl LX with a 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Bryant will become the 35th Bearcat to appear in a Super Bowl when he starts at safety for the Seahawks against the New England Patriots on Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Additionally, Bryant's appearance marks the seventh straight Super Bowl with a Bearcat, joining other recent NFL stars like Travis Kelce, Bryan Cook and Jason Kelce.

Bryant had two tackles on Sunday in helping lead the Seahawks to victory. In 2025, he started all 15 regular season games he appeared in and finished with 66 tackles, four interceptions and four TFLs. Since being drafted by Seattle in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, Bryant, a Cleveland, Ohio native, has played in 58 games with 34 starts and compiled 227 tackles and seven interceptions.

At UC, Bryant was a two-time team captain who led the Bearcats to back-to-back American Conference championships, the 2020 Peach Bowl and the 2021 College Football Playoff Semifinals at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, collecting the 2021 Jim Thorpe Award - given to the nation's top defensive back - and First Team All-America honors along the way. He finished his UC career with 172 tackles, 45 passes defended and 10 interceptions over 63 games. His 50 starts are the most ever by a defensive player at Cincinnati. The consummate team leader, the Bearcats had a record of 44-6 in his four seasons as a starter.
