EMS Week 2026: “Improving Outcomes Together”

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is a nationally recognized observance that honors the vital work of paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and all professionals who provide prehospital emergency care. Established in 1974 by American College of Emergency Physicians, EMS Week is celebrated each year in May and serves as an opportunity to recognize the dedication, skill, and compassion of EMS personnel.

Today, EMS Week is jointly sponsored by American College of Emergency Physicians and National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. Each year features a specific theme highlighting the critical role EMS plays in public health and safety. The 2026 theme is; Improving Outcomes Together.

Communities across the country mark the week with public education events, employee recognition, training activities, and outreach efforts that strengthen the connection between EMS providers and the communities they serve.

At its core, EMS Week is about acknowledging the lifesaving impact of those who respond at a moment's notice-often in unpredictable and challenging conditions-to deliver care when it matters most. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of a strong, well-supported EMS system as a cornerstone of emergency response and community resilience.
