Since the shooting, Detectives from the Homicide Unit interviewed numerous witnesses, identified and collected evidence in collaboration with Criminalists from PPB's Forensic Evidence Division, and followed up on leads. They identified a suspect and developed a plan to safely take him into custody with the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT).
On Friday, June 12, 2026 at 7:35 p.m., assisted by SERT and CNT, Detectives arrested Pharoah A. Hart-Williams, 20, of Portland. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The victim's family has been notified of the arrest.

The individual shot and killed in the Portsmouth Neighborhood on June 11 has been identified as Tyron Butler, 34, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death. They are requesting privacy at this time, but they did provide a photo for public release.

Shooting Investigation Underway in Portsmouth Neighborhood, One Deceased
On Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 4:46 p.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a call of a shooting at North Fessenden Street and North Haven Avenue in the Portsmouth Neighborhood. When they arrived they found an injured victim on a sidewalk. EMS arrived and transported the victim to the hospital by ambulance. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim died. Preliminary information is that the victim is an adult male.
The suspect or suspects left the scene, and no immediate arrests were made.
The Portland Police Detective Division Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to investigate.
During the investigation, North Haven Avenue is closed between North Newark Street and North Cecelia Street. North Fessenden Street is closed between North Adriatic Avenue and North Fiske Avenue.
