An Update on Business License Renewals

Business License Holder,

Last summer's cyber incident continues to impact the City's ability to renew business licenses on schedule. While we work to address these issues, please read all of the following important information to support your continuing business activities.

Business licenses cannot be renewed online yet in PAULIE, the City's new permitting and licensing system. We're working to provide this functionality in the near future.

  • Once renewals are available in PAULIE, you will receive an invoice for fees due and information on how to renew your license(s) online.
    • Once notified, you will have 30 days to renew your license(s) with no late fee
    • In the meantime, please ensure you are meeting all other licensing requirements, including appropriate current and active insurance

For businesses and professionals that are required to display valid licenses and/or need a renewed City license to operate under state law, you can renew manually.

  • These businesses include but are not limited to:
    • On and off-sale alcohol
    • Tobacco
    • Massage practitioners

To manually renew, bring all required documents and payment to the DSI offices at 375 Jackson Street, Suite 220. Only cash and check payments can be submitted in our office at this time. Special arrangements can be made to pay by credit or debit card (standard convenience fees will apply).

All other businesses can continue to operate without renewing their license until notified.

  • Once notified, you will have 30 days to renew your license(s) with no late fee
  • In the meantime, please ensure you are meeting all other licensing requirements, including appropriate current and active insurance

Please note: Some check payments previously received by our office for license renewal fees may have expired before they could be deposited. Any checks that have expired will not be processed and will either be returned to the payer or securely shredded in accordance with our records retention and financial handling procedures.
