The Government of Spain condemns settler violence in the West Bank

Today
The Government of Spain reiterates its strong condemnation of the ongoing violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers, who continue to act with impunity against the Palestinian population in the West Bank. Yesterday, another indiscriminate settler attack resulted in the deaths of four Palestinian civilians and two Israeli settlers.

In response to this escalating wave of settler violence in the West Bank, the Government of Spain calls on the Government of Israel to take the necessary steps to de-escalate the situation and ensure that those responsible for these attacks are brought to justice. The Government of Israel must reverse its policies of settlement expansion and of shielding settler violence against the Palestinian civilian population, and fulfil its obligations as the occupying power in Palestine.

The Government of Spain reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the implementation of the two-state solution and will continue to hold to account all those whose actions undermine its viability.
