Homicide Investigation and Arrest – Homeless Encampment behind 30000 Blk of San Antonio Street

HAYWARD, Calif., On August 22, 2025, at approximately 8:08 p.m., officers responded to a reported medical incident near the 30000 block of San Antonio Street.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 43-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel responded and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he later died.

The identity of the victim is currently being withheld, pending notifications to next of kin and formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner's Office.

After an exhaustive and continuous investigation, 49-year-old Hayward resident Rosario Raul Rodriguez Cazares was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Rita Jail for murder. To protect the integrity of the investigation, to preserve the unconventional crime scene, and to prevent the suspect's flight from justice, the press release was withheld until formal charges were filed.
