PHILADELPHIA - The Streets Department announces the closure of the Pedestrian Bridge carrying the continuation of Warrington Avenue over SEPTA's West Chester Branch at South 51st Street.

This bridge closure is necessary following an inspection that concluded the bridge cannot safely carry additional loads. To ensure the safety of the traveling public, the entire pedestrian bridge is closed to all users. Fencing and signage is being installed at the entrance to both staircases to prohibit use of the bridge and to alert the public that the bridge is closed.

The Streets Department urges pedestrian traffic to utilize nearby Springfield Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets as a detour.
