[NORMAL, IL] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with leaders from the electric automaker Rivian and toured the company's Central Illinois manufacturing plant. Duckworth and Rivian leaders, along with local officials, discussed their shared and continuing support for manufacturing growth, local workforce development and job growth for the region. Photos from today's visit are available on the Senator's website.
"Thanks to investments from companies like Rivian, Central Illinois has become a hub of electric vehicle manufacturing," Duckworth said. "While the Trump Administration has slashed support for electric vehicles, I'm committed to continuing to work with state and local leaders to expand manufacturing and training to support this growing industry in our state and the local jobs it provides to the region."
Duckworth was joined today by Bloomington Mayor Dan Brady, Normal Mayor Chris Koos, Bloomington City Manager Jeff Jurgens and senior leaders from Rivian. All Rivian vehicles are currently built at the 3.3 million square-foot manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.
