Miami-Dade School Board Approves Budget for 2025-26

The Miami-Dade County School Board has approved a $7.4 billion budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, reinforcing its commitment to student success, safety, and fiscal responsibility.

"The budget approved continues to protect what matters most: our classrooms, our students, and our workforce," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jose L. Dotres. "It may not resolve every issue, but it remains fiscally responsible, aligned with our values, and focused on student achievement and student well-being."

This year's budget reflects strategic investments in student services, including a 4% increase in funding for students with disabilities and continued support for Art, Music, and Foreign Language programs, which remain unmatched across the state.

The District has also established a substantial reserve for full-time equivalent (FTE) students, anticipating a decline in enrollment due to a significant drop in new foreign-born student registrations.

The millage rate for 2025-26 is set at 6.633, a slight decrease from last year's 6.699, continuing a trend of fiscal efficiency.

Additionally, 76.2% of the budget is allocated to teaching and direct services to students, with 19.8% supporting custodial, security, and other school-level services.

The voter-approved referendum funds will again be used to support teacher salaries (88%) and enhance school safety (12%), ensuring that salaries exceed the national average and that every school has an officer on-site, as required by state law.
