Winnebago County will begin scheduled roadway maintenance work on Monday, May 18, as part of the 2026 construction and pavement-preservation program. Two treatments are planned to begin the same day: Farhner's Rapid Penetrating Emulsion (RPE) project and CAM's Reclamite rejuvenating fog seal project. Both treatments are intended to extend pavement life and protect previous roadway investments.
The work is expected to be completed within the week, contingent upon weather conditions.
Both projects will be conducted under traffic, one lane at a time. Traffic will be managed with pilot cars or flaggers, and access to all residences will be maintained throughout the duration of the work. Motorists should expect short delays in active work zones.
Rapid Penetrating Emulsion (RPE):
A light pavement-preservation treatment that applies a fast-acting asphalt emulsion designed to penetrate the pavement surface, seal minor cracks, and slow oxidation.
Reclamite:
A rejuvenating fog seal applied to asphalt surfaces to restore essential oils, improve flexibility, and slow age-related deterioration, helping preserve the underlying pavement structure.
A map showing the locations of the scheduled maintenance work is provided for public reference.
