Get an inside look at the new University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Health and Wellness Center as the university offers its grand opening and tours of the facilities on Friday, Oct. 17.
Open to the public, the event will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. at the center, located at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Isadore Street on the UW-Stevens Point campus.
Featured speakers will include UW-Stevens Point Interim Chancellor Pratima Gandhi, Vice Chancellor Al Thompson and Student Government Association President Caden Morschauser as well as Craig Uhlenbrauck of Miron Construction in Wausau and Wisconsin Department of Administration Assistant Deputy Secretary Diana Maas. After a ribbon cutting ceremony, tours will be offered for the Dawg Fitness area and Student Health Service/Counseling Center.
The new Health and Wellness Center brings all aspects of wellness together in one location, offering 55,000 total square feet to house UW-Stevens Point's Dawg Fitness, Student Health Service and Counseling Center. The facility offers more than double the amount of fitness space, with new weight and cardio equipment. It opened August 18 after more than 10 years of planning, and was student funded through segregated fees.
