The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced that the public consultation on the Draft Law on Animal Feed has begun today and will last until 5 January 2026.
The statement notes that a roundtable discussion is also planned during this period, with the public to be duly informed, recalling that the area of animal feed is currently regulated by various regulations, which complicates effective risk-based supervision and control.
The new law will regulate this area in a systematic way and contribute to improving the control system at all stages of production, processing, marketing, and use of animal feed, in accordance with international standards.
The aim of the law is to ensure greater safety for animals and humans, as well as faster detection of potential health risks through a functional alert system.
At the same time, the adoption of this document represents an important step in fulfilling Serbia's obligations in the process of accession to the European Union, specifically under Chapter 12 and Cluster 5 - Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion.
In this way, Serbia aligns its domestic legislation with the EU acquis communautaire.
