Coalition of the Willing video conference meeting

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, participated via video link in today's Coalition of the Willing leaders' meeting, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

During her address, President Meloni once again conveyed her warmest congratulations on behalf of the Italian Government to President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people on the occasion of their national holiday, reiterating Italy's firm support for Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. She also expressed her deep sympathy for the suffering caused by Russia's ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure.

President Meloni confirmed Italy's commitment on the humanitarian front ahead of the winter season. These efforts will continue with the sending of additional generators aimed in particular at supporting the resilience of the Ukrainian people and ensuring the stability of the power grid.

During the meeting, the leaders agreed on the need to strengthen the effectiveness of the sanctions regime and to counter any attempts to circumvent it, in order to further weaken Moscow's war machine.

In closing, President Meloni reaffirmed Italy's determination to work alongside its international partners to foster a negotiation process towards a just and lasting peace.
