City Leases Historic Caretaker House at Howarth Park to Sonoma County Historical Society

The City of Santa Rosa has entered into a lease agreement with the Sonoma County Historical Society (SCHS) for the historic Caretaker House located in Howarth Park. Under the terms of the lease, executed Oct. 22, SCHS will restore and use the facility between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. for community purposes, including board and committee meetings, public lectures, and as research space for those utilizing the society's historical materials.

The SCHS will be responsible for completing restoration, accessibility, and operational improvements. Once restored, the Caretaker House may also be available to nonprofit and community groups for activities that complement park operations and preserve the building's historic character. This collaboration supports the City's commitment to connecting residents with Santa Rosa's history through education and engagement.
