2019 Homicide Suspect Arrested for Involvement in Saturday's Shooting

A homicide suspect, who was on the run for the last six years, was arrested for another shooting incident Saturday on West Trinity Lane where a man was injured non-critically. James C. Jones, 28, was indicted for the February 2019 fatal shooting of Dashawn Ellison, 23, during a dice game inside an apartment on 9th Avenue North.

Jones was attending a Christmas party on Saturday night when he became engaged in a physical altercation and fired a single round into a small group of people. A 26-year-old man was shot in the leg. He was taken by private vehicle to Skyline Medical Center for treatment. Jones was held down by a witness until North Precinct patrol officers arrived.

Jones was booked on his outstanding indictments for first degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and vehicle theft. He was additionally charged with aggravated assault for Saturday's shooting.
