SACRAMENTO, Calif. - On Saturday, Sept. 27, the Bureau of Reclamation will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of National Public Lands Day by waiving day use fees at directly managed areas at New Melones Lake, Lake Berryessa, and Stony Gorge Reservoir. Other fees such as overnight camping, boat launching, and fees associated with concession managed areas, will still apply.
Trail restoration at Lake Berryessa
In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Reclamation is partnering with Napa County Open Space District and Napa County Resource Conservation District to host a volunteer trail restoration project to restore the North End Trail to pre-LNU complex fire status. Volunteers will focus on clearing brush, limbs and obstacles from the trail, as well as picking up trash at trailheads and along the trail.
Volunteers should dress for summer heat; wear sturdy shoes; and bring a hat, work gloves, snacks, and water. Volunteers do not need to stay for the entire event; any amount of time will be appreciated. Anyone wanting to participate on this project can apply to volunteer by contacting the Lake Berryessa Field Office at (707) 905-7896 or by email at [email protected].
National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 with three sites and 700 volunteers, it is typically held on the last Saturday in September. For additional information, please visit the NPLD website at https://www.neefusa.org/npld.
