Jim Pillen’s State of the State Means Higher Costs and Less Health Care for Nebraska Families Arrow

Pillen's Nebraska puts billionaires first, and working Nebraskans last

Tomorrow, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen will deliver his State of the State address, where he will try to spin his abysmal record of higher costs and less health care for hardworking Nebraska families.

Thanks to Donald Trump and Jim Pillen, the state of Nebraska has never been worse off: Unemployment is up, working families are on track to lose over $760 per year due to Trump's Big Ugly Bill and failed economic policies, and over 54,000 Nebraskans are set to lose their health care, while an additional 127,000 Nebraskans face skyrocketing premiums.

By nearly every measure, Donald Trump and Jim Pillen have turned Nebraska into a punchline - a staggering failure of leadership.

Nebraska Democratic Chair and DNC Vice Chair Jane Kleeb issued the following statement:

"Ahead of Jim Pillen's State of the State, the state of Nebraska has never had worse leadership, and it's all thanks to Donald Trump and bootlicking Nebraska Republicans, like Pillen. Working Nebraskans are struggling as costs continue to rise, health care becomes more expensive, and jobs disappear. While Jim Pillen will try to gaslight Nebraskans and paper over his failures, the results are clear: Nebraska's Republican leadership has failed working Nebraskans, and electing Democrats up and down the ticket is the only way to right the ship."

Jim Pillen's real state of Nebraska by the numbers

Costs:

  • Nebraska working families have already lost at least $652 in higher costs due to Trump's inflation.
  • Nebraska working families will lose a combined $760 each year from Trump and Republicans' Big Ugly Bill and Trump's reckless tariffs.

Unemployment:

  • Nebraska's unemployment rate has increased by 0.1 percentage points since Donald Trump took office.

Health Care:

  • Nebraska's 127,135 ACA marketplace enrollees are seeing their health care costs skyrocket because Donald Trump refused to extend enhanced ACA tax credits.
  • Because of Trump's Big Ugly Bill and Republicans' refusal to extend enhanced ACA tax credits, 54,000 Nebraskans will lose their health care entirely.

Food Assistance:

  • Trump's SNAP cuts will cause 77,000 Nebraska families to lose some or all of their benefits.
