On December 4-5, 2025 during his visit to Vienna as Head of the Belarusian delegation at the OSCE Ministerial Council, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igor Sekreta, held meetings with OSCE Secretary General, Feridun Sinirlioglu, and OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Jan Braathu.
At the meeting with the OSCE Secretary General, the Deputy Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry underscored the vital role of the OSCE in maintaining stability and security in the Euro-Atlantic region amid an unprecedented escalation of tensions on the continent. I.Sekreta reaffirmed Belarus' support for the Secretary General's efforts aimed at searching for sustainable peace and restoring the Organization's functionality, and expressed the willingness of the Belarusian side to continue constructive engagement with all OSCE structures in order to prevent and resolve conflicts.
During the meeting with the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, the Head of the Belarusian delegation confirmed Minsk's interest in maintaining a constructive dialogue with the Representative's office and highlighted the regular exchange of information and openness to discussing a broad range of issues in the media sphere.
I.Sekreta drew attention to the absence of reaction from Jan Braathu's office to numerous cases of harassment and discrimination against journalists of Belarusian state media - issues that the Belarusian side had repeatedly raised earlier. He expressed expectations of an objective and impartial approach in the future work of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.
I.Sekreta also held a number of meetings with representatives of foreign delegations, during which issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed.
