U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger announced Monday that the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is open for submissions from high school students in Tennessee's First Congressional District.
The annual competition offers students the opportunity to have their original artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The winning submission will be included in a nationwide exhibit featuring pieces from all participating congressional districts.
"This annual competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the incredible creativity and talent of our young artists," Harshbarger said in a statement. "I'm always inspired by the passion and hard work students put into their submissions. I look forward to celebrating their creativity and displaying the winning piece in the U.S. Capitol."
The deadline to register and submit artwork is 3 p.m. Friday, April 3. A team of local judges will evaluate all entries from the district. Students interested in participating can find participation guidelines, a checklist and a student release form on Harshbarger's website at harshbarger.house.gov/services/art-competition.
The Congressional Art Competition has been a longstanding initiative providing high school students across the nation with the opportunity to display their work in the halls of Congress.
