Volunteers Needed for Community Service Projects Honoring the 9/11 National Day of Service

Gilbert, Ariz. - This September, the Town of Gilbert is participating in the 9/11 National Day of Service, a nationwide movement that honors those lost and the heroism shown on September 11, 2001, through acts of kindness and service.

Dozens of volunteer opportunities and donation drives are available for all ages and ability levels. Whether you're packing hygiene kits, assisting seniors with yard work, writing notes of encouragement, or collecting supplies, your time and effort can make a meaningful difference. See some of the upcoming opportunities below:

Town of Gilbert Service Projects - September 11

There is a range of volunteer projects across Gilbert to choose from. Options include:

  • Backstop pad detailing at Cactus Yards
  • Patio makeover at the Southeast Regional Library
  • Garden refresh at the Community Center
  • Litter/weed pickup and bird blind painting at the Riparian Preserve
  • Ongoing Senior Bingo item donation drive

9/11 Service Fair
Before the evening memorial ceremony, families can visit the 9/11 Memorial Plaza at 50 E. Civic Center Dr. from 5-6:30 PM for a Service Fair hosted by JustServe. About 10 local nonprofits, including Pawsitive Friendships, Kids for Kindness, AZ Blankets 4 Kids, Midwest Food Bank, Gathering Humanity, and Brightly Living, will have ready-made service projects onsite for kids and families to serve together. Day of Service to Seniors - September 12, 7:30-11:30 AM
Volunteers of all ages can help Gilbert residents facing financial or physical limitations with basic household needs, including light outdoor yard work, indoor housework, donation pickup, changing light bulbs and air filters, and more. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to
