April 17, 2026 - Aspiring entrepreneurs across Ventura County will have the opportunity to develop and pitch business ideas in just one day at Startup Day Channel Islands, taking place Friday, April 24, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) at the Martin V. Smith Hall.
Now in its fifth year, the program has been redesigned into a single-day, 10-hour immersive experience, giving participants a fast-paced introduction to the startup world. The event is open to students and community members interested in innovation, business creation, and entrepreneurship.
Participants will work in teams to develop ideas, connect with mentors, and gain hands-on experience in building a startup-from concept to pitch-within the same day.
"Startup Day is designed to give participants real-world experience in entrepreneurship," said CSUCI Entrepreneurship & Small Business Institute Director Maria Ballesteros-Sola. "Whether you're a student exploring ideas or a professional ready to take the next step, this event provides the tools, mentorship, and network to get started."
The event will be facilitated again by Greg Monterrosa, who will guide participants through the day's collaborative activities and workshops. CSUCI alum, Scott Futterman, co-founder & CEO of Drmtlgy will share his entrepreneurial journey from an idea to a multimillion skincare brand.
Attendees may register individually or as part of a team. Space is limited to 50 participants, and registration will close once capacity is reached.
The event is free for CSUCI students, and students from California Lutheran University, community colleges, and high schools. Community members may attend for a $25 fee, payable on the day of the event.
Campus parking is available for $6.
