Overnight Full Closure of NB I-680 at SR-242 Split in Concord for Emergency Overhead Sign Removal

Contra Costa County - Caltrans will perform emergency work to remove a damaged overhead sign structure at the northbound I-680 split to SR-242 in Concord .To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, northbound I-680 at the SR-242 split will require a full closure between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM on Monday April 27,2026 weather permitting. During the operation, work will occur only underneath the overhead sign at the start of the split. The northbound I-680 on-ramp entrance at Willow Pass Road will remain open. southbound I-680 will remain open.

Detour

  • Continue onto northbound SR-242
  • Use the right 2 lanes to merge onto westbound SR-242 toward Richmond
  • Take Exit to continue on northbound I-680 or southbound I-680

Motorists should follow posted detour signs and plan for extra travel time. Please remember to slow down for the Cone Zone, stay alert, to help keep everyone safe during construction.
