Marksheffel Road overnight closure planned Wednesday and Thursday

Closure runs from south of Tarren Heights to north of Stetson Hills Boulevard

Marksheffel Road, from south of Tarren Heights to north of Stetson Hills Boulevard, will close overnight on Wednesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 22 for drainage work.

Travelers should expect the road to close at 7 p.m. each evening and reopen by 5:30 a.m. the following morning. Some construction noise is expected during overnight operations.

Temporary steel plates will cover the pipe crossings during the day on Thursday and Friday. On Friday, Jan. 23, flaggers will alternate traffic through a single lane on Marksheffel Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while crews place asphalt over the pipes installed the previous two nights. Extra caution is advised while traveling through the work zone.

The signed detour route will direct Marksheffel Road travelers to use Peterson Road, Dublin Boulevard and Stetson Hills Boulevard. Tarren Heights provides neighborhood access only and does not connect to other streets suitable for a detour. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted detour signs.

This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may change.

Improving the existing two-lane section of Marksheffel Road between North Carefree Circle and Dublin Boulevard is a City priority. Once corridor improvements are complete, Marksheffel Road will be two lanes in each direction with a center median, improved drainage, and new sidewalks and paths.
