Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will be part of the delegation of the President of the Republic Alexander Stubb to the NATO Summit in Ankara, Türkiye, on 7-8 July.
Key topics on the Summit agenda include progress onthe goals agreed at The Hague Summit in 2025 to strengthen collective defence to counter the long-term threat of Russia and NATO's support for Ukraine.
NATO foreign ministers will convene at a session of the NATO-Ukraine Council and a meeting with member countries of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative. The Istanbul Cooperation Initiative is a partnership forum between NATO and countries in the Gulf region. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates currently participate in the initiative. At the summit, Minister Elina Valtonen will also have bilateral meetings, and she will attend the meeting of the North Atlantic Council as part of the Finnish delegation.
