Haridopolos Votes to Strengthen Law and Order in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, Congressman Mike Haridopolos joined House Republicans in voting for four bills codifying President Donald Trump's successful efforts to reduce violent crime in Washington, D.C., and reform D.C.'s broken justice system.

"President Trump promised to restore law and order, and House Republicans are working with him to deliver on that promise. This week, I proudly voted for common-sense reforms to fix D.C.'s broken justice system. Together, we are putting law-abiding citizens first and making clear that lawlessness will not be tolerated in our nation's capital," said Congressman Haridopolos.

House-Passed Legislation Targeting D.C. Crime:

H.R. 4922 - D.C. CRIMES Act: Blocks lenient sentencing reforms and ensures youth offenders are appropriately charged as adults for serious crimes.

H.R. 5140 - District of Columbia Juvenile Sentencing Reform Act: Lowers the age for juveniles to be tried as adults for violent offenses from 16 to 14.

H.R. 5143 - District of Columbia Policing Protection Act: Restores police authority to pursue fleeing suspects and improves real-time public safety alerts.

H.R. 5125 - District of Columbia Judicial Nominations Reform Act: Returns judicial appointments to the President and Senate, consistent with the Constitution.

In a new op-ed for Florida Today, Congressman Haridopolos laid out the real-world consequences of failed progressive policies. He pointed to tragedies in North Carolina and Florida, both tied to Democrat-run jurisdictions that release violent repeat offenders and embrace sanctuary policies allowing illegal immigrants to obtain commercial driver's licenses.

Congressman Haridopolos emphasized that "Florida stands for law and order" and pledged to keep working with President Trump to restore safety nationwide.
