The University of Wyoming has been ranked among the top 50 public universities in the nation for providing a strong return on investment for its students.
On SmartAsset's new "America's Best Value Public Universities" list, UW ranks No. 41 -- one of only three universities in the Rocky Mountain West to make the top-50 list. The others are the University of Idaho (No. 45) and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (No. 5).
"A university degree is one of the biggest investments many Americans will make, and public institutions are often perceived as the most affordable path toward a higher education. But sticker price alone does not determine value," the consumer website says. "Outcomes can vary widely by school, meaning some public universities may offer stronger returns for students seeking manageable costs and solid career prospects."
SmartAsset evaluated over 500 public colleges and universities in the U.S. to identify the 50 best-value schools, looking at average cost of attendance, graduation rates and the median earnings of graduates 10 years after first enrollment.
"For students across the nation, and the Rocky Mountain West in particular, it's increasingly clear that the University of Wyoming is the best place to come to set yourself up for your future," UW President Shane Reeves says. "We've always been among the best when it comes to affordability, but the quality of a UW education in preparation for a successful career is what really sets us apart."
