Belarus and UN sign Joint Action Plan for 2026

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Belarus, Rasul Bagirov, and the heads of UN agencies represented in Belarus (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, UNHCR, IOM) to sign a Joint Action Plan for 2026 for Implementing the Framework Program for Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the United Nations in the field of Sustainable Development for 2026-2030.


The Framework Program for Cooperation was signed by the Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry and the UN Resident Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 29, 2025.

The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation between Belarus and the UN in the implementation of long-term national priorities, emphasizing the alignment of the UN-Belarus Framework Program for Cooperation with Belarus' national strategies and plans for socio-economic development.

Participants exchanged views on the Organization's work in the context of contemporary global challenges and addressed the implementation of UN project activities in Belarus, noting its contribution to the country's sustainable development. In this regard, the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of implementing practice-oriented projects and expressed readiness to further expand cooperation in this area.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in deepening the partnership between Belarus and the UN, as well as further advancing the development of our country.

The Joint Action Plan was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with the UN Country Team and includes events to be held in the country in 2026 to commemorate significant national events and international days. The Plan includes events dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman, the Chernobyl issue, as well as the issues of peace and development, including in the context of the development of the Eurasian Charter on Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century. The Plan also includes traditional events commemorating important historical milestones in the founding of the Organization - the opening of the San Francisco Conference (April 25), the signing of the UN Charter (June 26), and UN Day (October 24).
