Lincoln University recognized outstanding faculty achievements across teaching, mentorship, community engagement and service during its annual faculty awards event, celebrating contributions that reflect the institution's commitment to student success and academic excellence.
Teaching Awards
The 2026 Excellence in Teaching Award was presented to Kayla Allen, assistant professor of business. Allen was recognized for her innovative, student-centered approach, integrating real-world applications through case studies, partnerships and hands-on experiences. Her collaboration with Career Services and other campus partners has expanded opportunities for students beyond the classroom, including organizing events such as an upcoming FICO engagement and bringing industry professionals to campus.
The Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award was awarded to Rachael Pasierowska, assistant professor of history. An early-career faculty member, Pasierowska was honored for her creativity and effectiveness in teaching. Her work includes designing engaging online and in-person courses and developing assignments that connect historical content, including ancient history, to contemporary relevance.
Community Engagement and Mentorship
Elizabeth Dorssom, assistant professor of political science, received the Faculty Community Engagement Award. Dorssom was recognized for extending her work beyond the classroom through civic engagement initiatives and community-building efforts. She developed platforms such as the LU Political Science newsletter and digital spaces to connect students and alumni, and led initiatives including voter registration drives and post-election programming.
The Distinguished Faculty Mentor Award was presented to Manzoor Chowdhury, professor of business and economics. Chowdhury was honored for his long-standing commitment to mentoring both students and junior faculty. His guidance and support have contributed to student confidence and professional development, as well as fostering a strong sense of community within his department.
Years of Service
The university also recognized faculty members for milestone years of service. Honorees celebrating five years included Elizabeth McMullen and Nikki Oldweiler. Melvin Herrington was recognized for 10 years of service, and David Heise for 15 years. Faculty marking 20 years of service included Stephanie Clark, Adrian Andrei and Amy Gossett.
Retirement Recognition
In addition, the university recognized the retirement of Patrick Oligschlaeger, assistant professor of health and wellness and advisor for wellness majors with emphases in sports management and kinesiology. Oligschlaeger was acknowledged for his contributions to student advising and his role in preparing graduates in his field.
