AECOM appoints Andrea Green to lead UK and Europe rail business

Senior industry appointment strengthens AECOM's rail leadership amid major investment and reform across the UK rail sector

LONDON (October 22, 2026) - AECOM, the trusted global infrastructure leader, has appointed Andrea Green as director for rail and transit in the UK and Europe, as it strengthens its support for the rail sector.

Andrea joins AECOM from Alstom, where she was business development director and led the development and delivery of the company's UK growth and resilience strategy.

She will draw on 30 years of experience across engineering, project delivery, business development and senior leadership to grow AECOM's rail business across its UK and Europe region. A civil engineer by background, Andrea will strengthen key client relationships and bring together AECOM's multidisciplinary capabilities across major programmes including Network Rail's Southern Renewals Enterprise and Leamside Line in the UK, and the North Bothnia Line in Sweden.

Andrea joins the Europe and India Transportation leadership team, and her appointment follows Darren Cook's recent appointment as a senior leader within that division. Darren joined the company as director for highways and streets in September.

"There's a huge opportunity ahead for AECOM in rail, with major programmes like Northern Powerhouse Rail moving forward alongside wider investment and change across the industry," said Steve Higham, managing director for transport, Europe and India, AECOM. "We have a strong rail business underpinned by a breadth of capabilities and global expertise that puts us in a great position to support clients as those plans take shape."

"Andrea is a perfect fit for where we want to go next. She has a strong track record of building successful businesses, developing lasting client relationships and getting the best out of teams. Her leadership will help us build on our existing strengths and capitalise on the opportunities ahead."

"This is a pivotal time to be joining AECOM," said Andrea Green, director for rail and transit, UK and Europe, AECOM. "There's significant investment going into the railway and a real opportunity to think differently about how projects are planned and delivered. Rail has a vital role to play in connecting communities, supporting economic growth and enabling a more sustainable transport system. I'm looking forward to working with colleagues, clients and partners across the industry and playing a part in delivering the next generation of rail infrastructure."

Alongside her new role, Andrea remains vice chair of the Railway Industry Association's Exports Leadership Group, working with industry and government to support UK rail suppliers pursuing opportunities in international markets, and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
