Maryville University is celebrating the hire of Dr. Scott Balog as Vice President for Strategic Growth and Partnerships, within the division of Institutional Development and Community Prosperity. Scott is a higher education growth executive with more than 25 years of experience building partnerships, launching new initiatives, and developing workforce and employer solutions across higher education, technology, consulting, economic development, government and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, Scott has been serving as Vice President of Partnerships at Core Education, where he originated and closed nearly $1.1 million in institutional engagements within his first six months.
Scott previously served as Executive Vice President, and Acting President, at Kansas City Kansas Community College, where he provided enterprise leadership across strategy, finance, operations, enrollment, workforce development, advancement and government relations, and helped administer the college's $105 million annual operating budget. His record includes building executive-level partnerships with employers such as Panasonic Energy, Orange EV and Marvin Windows, and advising his college's foundation in securing more than $17 million in gifts, grants and federal appropriations. Scott holds a Doctorate of Education from Florida State University and is a member of the Aspen Institute's Rising Presidents Fellowship.
At Maryville, Scott will grow the University's enterprise workforce and employer partnerships, diversify revenue, and deepen Maryville's role as an economic and workforce anchor for the region. His arrival bolsters two pillars of the Saints Plan: strengthening the communities Maryville serves, and building the financially resilient, revenue-diversified institution the University's future depends on.
