House Approves Congressman Hamadeh Request for Funding of the Phoenix Fire Member Services Building

WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Abe Hamadeh (AZ-08) is proud to announce yet another victory he has secured on behalf of the brave men and women of Arizona's Congressional District 8 first responder community.

Congressman Hamadeh's request for the Phoenix Fire Member Services Building Renovation in the amount of $1,500,000 was included in H.R. 7148 - Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026, which the House passed on Thursday by a vote of 341-88.

"I am grateful to see federal funding for the renovation of the Phoenix Fire Department's Member Services facility pass the House of Representatives. This project strengthens mental health resources, reduces burnout, and helps our firefighters and police stay ready to serve the people of Phoenix," Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said. "By supporting the health and wellness of our public safety professionals, we invest in a stronger, more resilient community for all Phoenix residents. I urge the Senate to pass this fruitful investment."

This funding will be used by the City of Phoenix to renovate the Phoenix Fire Department's Member Services building, which has not been updated since the 1960's. The updated building houses services such as the Community Assistance Program (CAP), which provides 24/7 crisis intervention, disaster relief, and support for community member needs. The internal "member" support offered focuses on wellness and assistance, with specific resources for first responders, retirees, and their families.

"This investment will serve first responders and their families for generations to come," stated Congressman Hamadeh. "I urge my Senate colleagues to pass this legislation as soon as possible. We in the House have done our job, now it is up to the Senate to do its job. We cannot turn our backs on our first responders and the people they so bravely serve."

Earlier this month, Congressman Hamadeh was proud to announce that his colleagues in the U. S. House of Representatives voted in favor of over $7,000,000 in funding for projects in Arizona's Congressional District 8, keeping his promise to local first responders and our nation's veterans to fight for them.

Funding recipients include:

Police Helicopter - City of Peoria $2,850,000

Funds will be used to purchase a Police Helicopter for the City of Peoria's Public Safety Aviation Unit. The helicopter will enhance operational capabilities by delivering rapid and reliable air support, bolstering public safety infrastructure, and addressing the increasing safety demands of the West Valley.

Law Enforcement Simulator Training Equipment - City of Phoenix $1,900,000

Funds will be used to purchase a Helicopter Training Simulator for the Phoenix Police Department's Air Support Unit. The simulator will be used as a resource to train and equip the Air Support Unit's flight crews. This will enable the unit to fulfill its mission of public safety and effective deployment of resources, enhancing capabilities for preserving life and property, suppressing crime, and encouraging community engagement.

Police Cruisers - City of Surprise $999,000

Funds will be used by the Surprise Police Department to purchase 15 up-fitted Police Cruisers to support the Police Departments efforts to prevent crime, improve public safety, and enhance operational effectiveness.

Police Radio Equipment Upgrades - City of Glendale $1,000,000

Funds would be used by the Glendale Police Department to outfit their officers with the latest radio technology. As their current technology approaches its end-of-life, the risk of equipment malfunction or failure increases significantly. The purchase of new radios would not only increase communication from the field but passively allows officer safety data such as location to be collected as well. This funding request would increase public safety and the safety of their officers.

Veterans Legal Services Hub - ASU $500,000

Funds will be used by the Arizona State University Veterans Legal Service Hub to enhance justice and public safety by providing free legal assistance to veterans. The Hub will address service-connected criminal charges, discharge upgrades, disability claims, and broader legal matters for veterans at Arizona State University and across Arizona.
