Mayor Dickens and Councilmember Hillis Announce Multi-Million-Dollar Resurfacing of Perry Boulevard and West Marietta Street

Nighttime Paving Begins September 15 to Minimize Traffic Impacts

ATLANTA-Mayor Andre Dickens, District 9 City Councilmember Dustin Hillis and the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) announced the start of a major resurfacing project for Perry Boulevard and West Marietta Street, covering the stretch from Hollywood Road to Marietta Boulevard. The multi-million-dollar infrastructure investment will begin September 15, 2025, weather pending, with work scheduled during nighttime hours to reduce construction and traffic conflicts.

"Investing in our infrastructure is investing in the future of Atlanta. This resurfacing project will improve safety, enhance mobility and provide smoother commutes for thousands of drivers each day. By conducting this as a nighttime project, we are ensuring that progress comes with as little disruption to residents and businesses as possible," said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. "Thank you to Councilmember Hillis for his leadership, whose persistence and advocacy have helped bring this project to fruition through our continued partnership."

"This resurfacing project has been a long time coming for our residents and commuters along Perry Boulevard and West Marietta Street. The improvements will not only extend the life of this critical corridor but also improve the quality of life for everyone who lives along and travels these streets. I'm proud to see the City prioritize Westside infrastructure with this level of investment. I want to thank Mayor Dickens, COO LaChandra Burks, ATLDOT Commissioner Solomon Caviness and each of their respective teams for their partnership and commitment to making this project a reality. I look forward to continuing to work with each of them, along with my City Council colleagues to continue ramping up infrastructure investment in District 9 and throughout our city," said District 9 Councilmember Dustin Hillis, who represents the neighborhoods along the project corridor, highlighted the significance of this investment for his district.

The project will include milling, resurfacing and restriping of the roadways, bringing them up to modern standards. In addition to the evening and overnight work hours, clear signage and traffic advisories will be in place throughout the construction period.
