Stony Brook University's Advancement team celebrated Earthstock on April 25 with a campus-wide beautification initiative, as more than 40 volunteers traded their office attire for gardening gloves to revitalize outdoor space near the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics.
The second annual Advancement Volunteer Day was organized by Advancement's culture committee in partnership with the Center for Service Learning and Community Service. Volunteers dedicated their morning to mulching, pruning, and pulling English Ivy.
"Our team's core purpose is to work with alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students to help drive Stony Brook forward," said culture committee co-chair Christine McGrath. "We thought this would be a great way to bring our team together, reinforce that purpose and make a tangible impact on the experiences students, faculty, staff and visitors have when they are on campus."
